"Upper Room" is the name of our Junior and Senior High School Youth Group that meets every Sunday night at the church in the GVCC Youth "Upper Room".
- Junior High (6th - 8th grade) & High School Youth (9th - 12th grade) meet from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
The Youth Leader is Shane Keller and he incorporates the help of several team sponsors.
The purpose of the Upper Room is to give our youth a place of their own and help young people come to know who Jesus is and help them to grow in their relationship with Him. We have fun activities and lessons to inspire our youth.
We believe that students need to build a strong foundation on our Savior, Jesus Christ, to carry them through college and into their careers. Our goal is to help every student understand what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. Our programs are designed to reach out to those who are lost and to bring students into a relationship with Christ, by developing a mature faith within them. We work to accomplish these goals through weekly youth group, Bible studies, small groups, summer camps, etc.
Throughout the year, our youth do different service projects, community outreach events and enjoy fun outings, such as; Rockies or Sky Sox games, Christian concerts, etc. We also offer several types of fundraising events, with our large fundraising event, being a food booth, during Blossom Weekend. Proceeds from the fundraisers go toward specific outreach needs or to help children and youth cut the costs of church camps or other activities throughout the year. The students and parents get involved with the fundraisers and it helps defray costs of their church outings/activities.
Our goal is to ignite our youth of today into finding out more about Jesus...Who He was and What and Why He gave his life for us on the cross, over 2,000 years ago and how it relates to our world and youth today. We teach them to do as the Bible commands us to do. "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15
